Causes of postpartum depression
The main cause of postpartum depression is the rapid hormonal changes that take place during pregnancy and after pregnancy. After delivering the child, the woman experience a big drop in estrogen and progesterone hormone levels and the thyroid levels also drops which further leads to complications such as fatigue and depression. Along with this, there are also changes in the blood pressure (high or low) and the functioning of the immune system. It has been noted that women who are more sensitive to hormone imbalances develop postpartum depression. Women who have just given birth to the child also have numerous changes such as physical as well as mental. In addition, the changes in their body structure also cause stress on their minds. The lifestyle of the mother completely changes. The stress of taking care of the baby takes a toll on the mother. All these factors contribute to the cause of postpartum depression.
